The Jefferson City Council approved a resolution of support for a $60 million tax abatement for Unilever on Monday night. The resolution directs city staff, the Jefferson City Regional Economic Partnership (JCREP) and the city's bond counsel Gilmore and Bell P.C. to work on issuing Unilever property tax abatement and sales tax exemption for construction and some equipment purchases. City attorney Ryan Moehlman said the purpose of the abatement and exemptions is to encourage Unilever to move forward with expansions to its facility.
